Yes, we stopped on the way back and bought a hot dog and chips from some portable roadside van, was bloody terrible. Remember it like it was yesterday. I was also wearing a nice pair of blue Gazelles that day too.

Was at that game too, and had the winner of the Grand National too. Stopped at some bakery in Burslem and bought Oatcakes, nothing like a cake just a pancake filled with something and then rolled, bloody awful things

''1991 Ian bishop. Top corner. Pissed down all game if I recall open end terrace. Sang we are top of the league all second half''
Was there also. But I wouldn't have a clue what the weather was like or what we were singing, it astounds me how anyone can remember detail like that from 30 years ago.

All I know is that cunt Robbie Williams supports them.
That and they are one half of the least known answer in the 'name all the cities with multiple league clubs' quiz question.

..They had the terrific Mark Chamberlain (father of the Ox), he was the best player in the lower divisions, before going on to be one of the first black England players. .

All I remember about actual matches with Port Vale is one cup match where they constantly informed us that they hated Pakies.
Obviously thought West Ham was exclusively supported by Pakistanis.

Cough - Matthews
Not popular with Old Skool Valiants Something to do with his mum getting a clandestine new fangled washing machine and deserting the Vale for Stoke as a consequence
Len
Funny place Stoke, neither in the proper north nor midlands and not a natural City but an imposed collective of six hill towns that did not and still don't get on
Proper club though the Vale, got to understand their thinking through a good client way back and always advocated we should have signed Robbie Earle before he moved on Oh that and burgers the size of bin lids, birds with taches and tats and saw Bish rip a screamer

When Rice made his England debut, Pope tweeted he would rather have 'Uncle Ben's' in his England team
Couple of weeks later he was having a pop at social media for being too critical of young players
Fucking tit

1991 Ian bishop. Top corner. Pissed down all game if I recall open end terrace. Sang we are top of the league all second half. Horrible ground at the time. Think one side used to be a cricket stand?? Shit hole but good memories.

Went there in the early 70s to see West Ham in the Cup. I think we won 1-0. Had the cheapest pint of beer ever in a pub near the ground - can't remember how much though, something ridiculous like 10p.

Strictly speaking St Johnstone is named after a place. The old name for Perth was Saint John's Town.
Unlike Queen of the South (Dumfries) Not sure about Raith Rovers (Kirkcaldy)

Guy I used to work with is a big fan, from the area. Ex-youth player Cristian Montano plays for them now, Tom Pope is a local legend.

Crystal Palace was called Crystal Palace after the Crystal Palace was moved there from Hyde Park, after the Exhibition of whenever it was.
Used to be home to the National Stadium before Wembley.

Obviously the Nam Arsenal comes from Woolwich Arsenal - their original name - but yes no such place either!
Are they the only 2 clubs not named after a place?
Oh hang on Crystal Palace just sprung to mind.. so thats 3...
